Negation — nicht und kein

There are two ways to negate in German. Use 'kein/keine/kein' to negate a noun that has no article or an indefinite article — it follows the same endings as 'ein'. Use 'nicht' to negate verbs, adjectives, adverbs, or nouns with a definite article. 'Nicht' generally comes near the end of the clause.
